A massive housing development in Harnett County has reached a key milestone.
Serenity, a roughly 1,200-home community spread across 550 acres, has sold out homes for phase one of the development, according to the neighborhood’s developer, Raleigh-based Greenfield Communities. The developer said it has sold 216 homes since opening in October 2022, including more than 70 homes in the first half of 2024.
“The sales figures highlight the exceptional work of our five-star builders who deliver a variety of new home product types that buyers are seeking,” Dawn Forrest, vice president of marketing for Greenfield Communities, said in a statement. “We must also commend our development team’s dedication and the tireless efforts of the welcome center staff.”
Located northwest of the intersection of Highway 401 and Rawls Church Road with a Fuquay-Varina address, Serenity has many homebuilders contributing to the neighborhood, including David Weekly Homes, Garman Homes, Drees Homes, ICG Homes and Triple A Homes. Single-family homes are priced from the mid-$300,000s to $600,000s, and custom homes start at $850,000.
The neighborhood is expected to reach full buildout within five years, according to Greenfield Communities. The developer said it anticipates more than $300 million will with be invested through land development and home construction.
Harnett County has no shortage of prospective homebuyers as growth spills over from Wake County to the north. As a result, Harnett’s population ballooned from 114,678 in 2010 to 141,477 in 2023, according to estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau.
Elsewhere in the area, Meritage Homes (NYSE: MTH) recently purchased around 50 acres in the Angier area for an upcoming community that will have 74 homes. And earlier this year, a developer purchased close to 100 acres south of Angier.
